Earning Income

This section of the site is for people who's main priority is increasing their income or changing the way they earn their income.

The Money Minds financial review process contains eight distinct steps and is summarised in the diagram below:

You'll notice that income underpins everything else: without sufficient income, you will find it virtually impossible to reach your goal of financial freedom.  The key is to have enough disposable income so you can save and invest enough money to reach your financial targets in your chosen timescale and this section will give you some ideas on how to achieve exactly that.

Based on the book 'Cashflow Quadrant' taken from a book of the same name by Robert Kiyosaki, there are four ways of generating income (see image below).

The investing (I) section of this site deals with having money work for you and this section deals with the other three methods of earning income: being employed (E), self-employed (S) and owning a business (B).

Each method has its own pros and cons and part of the aim of this section is to help you find what's right for you and then how to be the best you can in the direction you choose.

The important thing is that you find an occupation that uses your natural talents and abilities and that you enjoy doing.

Ways of Earning Income

Within the E, S and B quadrants of the above diagram, fall a whole array of possibilities and we cover the following main areas:

• Employment - this means you chose to trade your time for a salary (and sometimes other benefits e.g. bonuses, company pension etc). This is usually seen as the most secure option and income can vary hugely, depending on how valubale your skills, knowledge and attitude is in the marketplace
• Self Employment - this means you work for yourself but don't have anyone else working for you. Examples include self-employed trades people, freelance workers and some professions
• Business Owner - this is where you own or buy into a business system and leverage your own efforts through other people. Examples  include your own business, franchises and direct sales / networking marketing organisations

Perhaps you already own a business and are simply looking for some ideas or to expand your business interests.  On the other hand, you may have only ever been employed but are looking to break away from employment and try going it alone.

• Personal Development - if you're looking at changing what you do, then it will probably mean you'll need to learn new skills, knowledge and attitudes
• Opportunity listings - view a list of business opportunities. There is an emphasis on direct sales opportunities due to flexibility, low cost start-up and excellent training
• Part-time jobs - view a list of part-time jobs organised by area and job type
